The Toiyabe Range, which rises to over 12,000 feet above Big Smoky Valley, is the crown jewel of Nevada's Central Ranges. Home to imposing alpine peaks, lush wetlands, stunning views, and many rare and endemic plant species, including Toiyabea alpina, Trifolium rollinsii, and Agastache cusickii, the Toiyabes also feature an accessible network of campgrounds and hiking trails. 

On Friday 6/26, we will meet at the Columbine Campground on the western slope of the range. On Saturday 6/27, we will take one long, strenuous day hike to Arc Dome, with shorter and less-strenuous options available depending on the final composition of our group. On Sunday 6/28, we will take a shorter morning hike and allow everyone to get on the road home.

Our destination is about a 3.5 hour drive from Reno and a 5.5 hour drive from Las Vegas - we hope that members from all over the state will be able to attend. If you are attending, please be prepared to be self-sufficient for 2 nights of car camping and 1 long day hike in unpredictable Great Basin summer conditions. The campground is accessible by AWD crossover SUV vehicles (think Subaru) with some ground clearance, but passenger sedans may have trouble. Carpooling is a recommended given the distance.

We are excited to host the first NNPS overnight trip in a while, and hope that we can host more in the future.
