Clare Dittemore, UNR, PhD student in the Forister Lab, will be giving our program this month. The title of her talk is: “Native pollinators in our region: Change through time, threats, and resilience.”
Observed declines in native pollinators have been linked to a variety of anthropogenic stressors. Clare will be discussing the status of butterflies in the western United States, with special focus on how both pesticide use and climate change are impacting these organisms. There are still steps that we can take to ameliorate these threats, however. Clare will conclude with some stories of butterfly resilience and recommendations for urban green spaces."
