Henderson regular meeting (December 3rd). Third annual NNPS Christmas Pot Luck. Please bring photos to share with the group. We will also have an update on the poster, will be announcing the results from the elections, and discussing next years events and activities. The more the merrier!!
November 2007: (ANNUAL MEETING AND ELECTIONS)
Reno regular meeting (November 1st). Steve Caicco, botanist with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service in Reno, will give a presentation on East African Ecosystems. This will have an emphasis on the Afro-alpine flora of central Kenya.
Henderson regular meeting (November 5th). Nancy Hall, from the Friends of Gold Butte, will talk about the restoration work that in going on and the challenges facing the Gold Butte area. Adriane Zacmanidis, from Friends of Nevada Wilderness, will be giving a presentation on her non-profit organization and what they are doing to protect wilderness in Nevada. We will also discuss the poster and be holding elections for the southern Chairperson positions, so please make every effort to attend.
October 2007: (NOMINATIONS FOR ELECTIONS)
Henderson regular meeting (October 1st).
Reno regular meeting (October 4th). Larry Taylor and Gary Monroe will present Botany, Geology, and Topography of 2007 NNPS field trips. Anyone else with photographs from the 2007 season is welcome to join in! (If you will need any special projection equipment contact Jim Morefield 775-684-2902 or Arnold Tiehm 775-329-1645 well ahead of time).
Reno regular meeting (September 6th). NNPS President Ann Pinzl will be giving a presentation on her trip earlier this year to the Amazon. There will be slides, focusing on the botany of that area..
Henderson regular meeting (Monday September 10th). Ann Pinzl, NNPS president will give a talk on her latest adventures in the Amazon. The title of her presentation is: Visiting the Amazon: A Personal Account. She will share her photos of the region, the people, and of course, the flora.
Henderson regular meeting (July 2nd). We will be having a follow-up to May's poster meeting. Fred Edwards will give the group a status report on the poster development progress. We encourage everyone to come and participate in poster development.
Henderson regular meeting (June 4th). John Brinda from UNLV will be giving a presentation and workshop on the mosses found in Southern Nevada and surrounding areas. He will bring live specimens for our examination and identification.
Reno regular meeting (May 3rd). Annual member slides show. All members are invited to display their native plant slides, particularly from NNPS field trips. Please contact John Reid at (714) 457-3149 beforehand if you are planning to display slides at this meeting.
Henderson regular meeting (May 7th). Fred Edwards will lead the group through selecting plants to be included in the poster and other items related to the poster. Sharon Schaffer has been selected as the artist for the poster and she will be bringing some of her work for our group to view. If anyone would like to join the poster sub-committee, please contact Sonja.
Henderson regular meeting (April 2nd). Pat Leary, co-author of The Flora of the Spring Mountains of Clark and Nye County, Nevada, will host a workshop looking at a specific family or genus (to be announced, due to lack of rainfall).

Reno regular meeting (April 5th). Eric Peterson of the Nevada Native Heritage program will give a presentation on native lichens in Nevada.
Southern Nevada (April 21st). International Earth Day. We will be having a booth at the Summerlin Earth Day, located at Summerlin Centre Community Park, 1800 South Town Center Drive (between Sahara and Charleston), Las Vegas. The event will feature live musical entertainment, interactive displays, children’s environmental art and learning activities, food, and exhibits.
Reno regular meeting (March 1st). Bruce Eisner of the California Tahoe Conservancy will discuss his agency's Lands Acquisition program, in which small parcels of land are acquired and restored to native vegetation, with limited public usage as parks, picnic areas, etc.
Henderson regular meeting (March 5th). Julie Draper will be giving the group a follow-up presentation to her 2005 presentation on cotyledons of the Mojave Desert.
Reno regular meeting (February 1st). Jenny Francis of the Tahoe Resource Conservation District - California Area, and Sue Donaldson of the Nevada Resource Conservation District - Reno/UNR Area, will be our co-speakers. The topic will be the Invasive Weeds Programs of both agencies.
Henderson regular meeting (February 5th). Fred Edwards, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, will present Rare plant conservation in Southern Nevada. Synopsis: overview of the Endangered Species Act and how it fits into the larger conservation picture, opportunities for public involvement and considerations for shaping the future of rare plant conservation in Southern Nevada.
